  Molasses Cookies

This is a good version of an old time, just like Grandma used to make, recipe. For the best crinkled tops, make certain to allow enough time for the dough to chill.

Servings: 24

3/4 c butter or margarine 2 tsp baking soda
1 c packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c molasses 1 tsp ground ginger
1 egg 1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 1/4 c flour 1/2 tsp ground cloves

1) Cream the brown sugar and butter.
2) Add the egg and molasses, and mix well.
3) Add the remaining ingredients, and mix thoroughly.
4) Chill the dough for a few hours.
5) Preheat oven to 350.
6) Form the dough into about 1 inch balls, then roll in white sugar.
7) Space balls about 2 inches apart. Bake for 12-15 minutes and cool on a rack.
